Flowing rivers

What do you see when you look at this images? Would you think of the aerial view of Iceland? Because that is exactly what you see right here. The pictures are taken by the Russian photographer Andre Ermolaev.
To me it seems like he painted the images, because of how abstract it looks. A bird's view always gives such a different and interesting look on where we live.

Make me a Monster

These funny paintings were made by Chris McMahon and Thryza Segal. Originally, the paintings were without the monsters, because the artists bought them at thriftstores and then added the monsters to give the paintings a second life.
To make everything look as natural as possible, they matched the kind of paint to the ones that were used in the original paintings.
The result is an awesome series of new and funny paintings! I like the last one the best, because of the colors and because I like the kind of monster a lot.

HERE you can find Chris's deviantart and THIS photoalbum is from Thryza and also shows before pics from the paintings. Enjoy!

Unrealistic, or is it?

"I'm a photographer and retouch artist from Sweden. I use photography as a way of collecting material to realize the ideas in my mind"- Erik Johansson

Photoshop can be used to retouch minor flaws in a picture, but also to create a whole new reality. That is how Erik Johansson uses it. He makes images that look totally real, but also very impossible.
He started with photography when he got a camera as a gift. At first, he thought photography was just a matter of being at the right place, at the right time. Everything was coincidental, and then taking a nice photo was something anyone could achieve. So he started to plan photos out, to create his own images instead of capturing what was already there.
By combining different images in photoshop, you get these weird and alienating pictures.
And I like it a lot.

A sky full of stars

Ever wondered what would happen if all the lights in a city would turn off? Well, it would look something like this.
These pictures are made by Thierry Cohen, a photographer who currently lives in Paris. He made these pictures in his series "Villes Enteintes", which means darkened cities.
The stars you see are not just randomly selected, because Cohen matched the cities with a place which get to see the same stars, but where you can actually see them. To do this he makes calculations concerning angle of view, longitude and latitude. He works very precise.

All these images make me think about how the world would be if we didn't build so many cities, or if we turned of all the lights at specific moments. Because of the way we live right now we miss out on so many awesome nature events, like the stars. What if we were able to see this every night? Wouldn't that be beautiful?

Amphirite

This is an advert for Amphirite: Underwater Goddess, a perfume by Damien Krisl. I really like the feeling of this clip. Perfume commercials are always very 'arty' and 'vague', which sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. In my opinion, this one does definitely work.
It's the movement of her dress, the comparisons between her and some underwater animals, the colors and the lighting which give me a nice feeling.
Now let's hope the perfume also smells great!
